Mets Injury Updates: Lindor Day-to-Day, Nuñez Out for Season

Lindor Leaves Game with Oblique Injury

New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor exited Tuesday night's game against the Philadelphia Phillies due to a left oblique strain. Lindor was injured while batting in the second inning and was replaced by Luis Guillorme.

Mets manager Buck Showalter said after the game that Lindor is day-to-day and will be evaluated further on Wednesday.

Lindor is batting .257 with 10 home runs and 39 RBIs this season. He is one of the Mets' most important players and his absence would be a significant blow.

Nuñez Out for Season with Torn ACL

Mets outfielder Eduardo Núñez is out for the season after suffering a torn ACL in his right knee.

Núñez injured his knee while fielding a ground ball in the outfield on Tuesday night against the Phillies.

Núñez is batting .256 with 1 home run and 9 RBIs this season. He was expected to play a significant role for the Mets in the second half of the season.

The Mets have recalled infielder Deven Marrero from Triple-A Syracuse to replace Núñez on the roster.

Mets Injury Woes Continue

The Mets have been hit hard by injuries this season.

In addition to Lindor and Núñez, the Mets have also lost starting pitchers Jacob deGrom (stress reaction in his right scapula), Max Scherzer (oblique strain), and Tylor Megill (shoulder impingement) to injuries.

The Mets are currently 49-48 and in third place in the NL East. They are 4.5 games behind the first-place Atlanta Braves.
