Las Vegas Raiders Sign Darren Waller To A Three Year Contract Extension

Las Vegas Raiders sign Darren Waller to a three-year contract extension

Veteran tight end Darren Waller has signed a three-year, $51 million contract extension with the Las Vegas Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders and Pro Bowl tight end Darren Waller have agreed to a three-year contract extension worth $51 million, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported and NFL Network's Tom Pelissero confirmed. Waller's extension keeps him in Las Vegas through the 2025 season, the organization announced Tuesday. The 30-year-old Waller missed six games in 2021 and eight in 2022 due to injuries, but he has been a productive player when healthy. He had 65 catches for 665 yards and two touchdowns in 11 games in 2021. In 2022, Waller had 55 catches for 615 yards and two touchdowns in 14 games. Waller has made the Pro Bowl in each of the past three seasons and is one of the most dangerous pass-catching tight ends in the NFL. He is a big target at 6-foot-6, 255 pounds, and he has good speed and athleticism. The Raiders are hoping that Waller can stay healthy and be a major contributor to the offense in 2023 and beyond. He is a key part of the team's future plans, and his extension is a sign that the Raiders are committed to building a winner around him.

Waller's contract extension is the latest move in a busy offseason for the Raiders

The Raiders have been active in free agency, adding several key players, including quarterback Derek Carr, running back Brandon Bolden, and defensive end Chandler Jones. They have also made some moves in the draft, selecting Georgia cornerback Kelee Ringo with the No. 18 overall pick. The Raiders are hoping that all of these moves will help them make a run at the playoffs in 2023. They have a lot of talent on paper, but they need to stay healthy and play together as a team. If they can do that, they could be a surprise team in 2023.
