Joe Mazzulla Returns to Celtics Bench After Eye Injury

Interim Coach Suffered Abrasion During Pickup Game

Mazzulla Coached with Protective Glasses During Nets Game

Boston Celtics interim coach Joe Mazzulla returned to the bench Sunday after missing two games with an eye injury sustained in a pickup game.

Mazzulla, who led the Celtics to a 10-4 record in his absence, wore protective glasses during Saturday's game against the Brooklyn Nets due to corneal abrasions.

The injury occurred last week, and Mazzulla was initially ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Houston Rockets. However, he was able to return sooner than expected.

In his absence, assistant coaches Damon Stoudamire and Ben Sullivan led the Celtics to a pair of victories.

Mazzulla has been praised for his leadership and ability to connect with players since taking over as interim coach in September following the suspension of Ime Udoka.

The Celtics are currently 41-17 this season and are in first place in the Eastern Conference.
