Two Alligator Sightings at Tybee Island Beach Ahead of Labor Day Weekend

Tybee Island, GA - Authorities are urging beachgoers to be cautious after two alligator sightings were reported at Tybee Island Beach ahead of the busy Labor Day weekend. The first sighting occurred on Thursday, August 25, when a 6-foot alligator was spotted near the 16th Street beach access. The second sighting happened on Saturday, August 27, when a 4-foot alligator was seen near the 12th Street beach access.
According to the Tybee Island Police Department, both alligators were safely removed from the beach and relocated to a nearby marsh. No injuries were reported in either incident.
The Tybee Island Police Department is asking beachgoers to be aware of their surroundings and to report any alligator sightings to authorities. They also advise beachgoers to swim only in designated areas and to avoid swimming in areas where alligators have been spotted.
