The Quick and Easy Way to Remove Acrylic Nails
Materials You'll Need
- 100% acetone
- Cotton balls
- Nail file
Instructions
Step 1: File the Top Coat
Use a nail file to gently file the top layer of the acrylic nails to remove the shine. This will help the acetone penetrate the nails more easily.
Step 2: Soak in Acetone
Soak cotton balls in pure acetone and apply them to the nails. Secure the cotton balls with aluminum foil or plastic wrap to prevent evaporation.
Step 3: Wait 15-20 Minutes
Allow the acetone to work its magic for 15-20 minutes. The acrylic nails will start to soften and loosen.
Step 4: Remove the Acetone
Carefully remove the cotton balls and acetone. Using a cuticle pusher or orange stick, gently push away any remaining acrylic residue.
Step 5: File and Buff
Once the acrylic nails are removed, file and buff your natural nails to smooth out any rough edges.
Tips
- Avoid using nail polish remover containing acetone on natural nails, as it can damage them.
- If the acrylic nails are particularly thick, you may need to soak them for a longer period.
- Moisturize your hands and nails after removing acrylic nails to prevent dryness.
